Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (June 9, 2017)

Welcome to Inbox.  For those new to WFE, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  This is the news that has grabbed our attention this week.

________

Douglas Laing

Prolific independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co have announced two more expressions in their Remarkable Regional Malts. Both are limited edition and higher age statement versions of expressions that already exist - the Rock Oyster 18 years old and the Timorous Beastie 18 years old.

The Rock Oyster is blended using just single malts from the Islands and includes whisky from Arran, Islay, Jura and the Orkneys. The Timorous Beastie is blended from a selection of Highland single malts. Both of the new 18 years old whiskies are of natural colour, non chill-filtered, bottled at 46.8% ABV and priced at £90. They are available from selected specialist whisky retailers globally.

Mackmyra
The Swedish single malt brand of Mackmyra have announced a special whisky that will only be available for passengers on Scandinavian airline SAS. The Mackmyra Traveler will be served to Business and First Class customers on European and intercontinental routes. 10% of the whisky included has been matured in Swedish oak, with the rest having been matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak. The Traveler has been bottled at 46.1% ABV and will be available in 5cl and 50cl bottles.

"We are extremely proud that SAS has chosen Mackmyra and that more passengers will discover us on their travels. We have always worked to make whisky personal, which is why it is especially great to get the chance to adapt the design of our bottles to go with the SAS trademark."
Susanne Tedsjo - Sales & Marketing Manager at Mackmyra.
