Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (December 2, 2016)

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  Here is this week's news that caught our eyes ...

________

Benromach
The small Speyside distillery of Benromach have announced the latest expression in their Heritage series - the Benromach Heritage 1973.  The bottling, which will be exclusive to the UK, consists of just 52 bottles that have come from a single re-fill American oak hogshead (cask #4606).  The whisky has been bottled at the natural cask strength of 48.1% ABV.

The Benromach Heritage 1973 is presented in a bespoke bottle that represents the shape of the stills at Benromach and wooden casket, both adorened with copper trim.  A specially commissioned book about Benromach's history is included and it will be available through specialist retailers in the UK. The recommended retail price is £1,395 per bottle.

"The Benromach 1973 is to be treasured. It was crafted with great care using many of the same skills and practises adopted at Benromach today. It’s been maturing for 42 years, and I’m sure those who really take their whisky seriously will enjoy the chance to experience a little bit of Benromach history."
Keith Cruickshank - Distillery Manager at Benromach.

English Whisky Co

The Norfolk-based English Whisky Co have announced their first ever 10 years old single malt expression.  The English Batch #01 will only be available to the brand's Fellowship and Librarian members.  Fellowship members will be eligible for a 20cl bottle and Librarian members for a 70cl bottle.

If you are not a member already, then you can sign up to either scheme via www.englishwhisky.co.uk.  Fellowship members pay £124 per year and Librarians pay £495 per year.  Both get multiple benefits in addition to access to the new 10 years old expression.
