Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (October 14, 2016)

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  Here is this week's news that caught our eyes ...

________

Haig Club
Following the launch of the Clubman expression of Haig Club earlier this year, Diageo (the brand's owners) have revealed the first TV advert for the new product.  The advert, entitled 'Make Your Own Rules', explores breaking the rules of traditional Scotch whisky etiquette.  It was shot on location in London and Barcelona and has been directed by the award-winning Nima Nourizadeh.  It also features Haig Club's brand partner David Beckham.  Haig Club Clubman is available for £25 a bottle and the advert can be seen below. Enjoy.

"With the Haig Club Clubman, we want to highlight that there is no right or wrong way to enjoy whisky, as long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters."
David Beckham.

Longmorn

The cult Speyside distillery of Longmorn has announced the line up of it new single malt range.  This is the first permanent range from the distillery that is regarded as one of the 'best kept secrets' of the Scotch whisky industry.  The Distiller's Choice, which was released earlier this year, is joined by a re-invented version of the 16 years old and a new 23 years old expression.

The three whiskies have been created by Trevor Buckley, the Distillery Manager at Longmorn, and they are designed for the premium single malt drinker.  All will be available globally through specialist whisky retailers and the recommended prices per bottle are - The Distiller's Choice ($65 US, £52), the 16 years old ($252 US, £205) and the 23 years old ($1,450 US, £1,185).

"The new Longmorn family has pushed the boundaries of luxury and quality and offers a new journey of discovery for discerning drinkers through the prestige whisky category – it’s certainly Longmorn’s time to shine."
Miriam Eceolaza - Single Malts Brand Director at Chivas Bros.

Macallan
The famous Speyside distillery of Macallan have announced a new addition to their core single malt range.  The 12 years old Double Cask is a new interpretation of the previous 12 years old expression and features whisky that has been matured in sherry seasoned American and European oak casks. It is designed to highlight Macallan's commitment to using exceptional wood during maturation and to sit perfectly in the middle of their Sherry Oak and Fine Oak ranges.  The 12 years old Double Oak is available via whisky specialists and will cost £55 a bottle.
